Over that period Cafe tables were moved into the Gallery space due to Covid regulations and required numbers. It created a different atmosphere and was enjoyed by those who used it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year the Fibre exhibition has surprised and delighted visitors and the standout work this year is the exceptional quality of weaving by three artists \u2013 Wendy Cartwright, Kim Jones (The Wild Weaver), and Stephanie Seckold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exquisite bodice by Stephanie is made from her home grown cotton. It has been hand-spun hand-woven, trimmed with hand-made lace and dyed with natural indigo dye. This is a very contemporary heirloom piece for these times. Sachiko Kotaka\u2019s wonderful felted pieces, which can be worn or hung on a wall, are once again a testament to her experience, technique and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fibre Show is an annual exhibition which is always highly regarded by the local and visiting fibre \u2018fanatics\u2019.\u00a0 The quality of work each year continuously excites fibre artists from all mediums of the art\/craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"280\" height=\"365\" data-id=\"1198\" src=\"https:\/\/blueknobgallery.com\/gallery\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_0084.jpeg\" alt=\"Mythical Bird (Embroidery)by Catherine Dunham\" class=\"wp-image-1198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blueknobgallery.com\/gallery\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_0084.jpeg 280w, https:\/\/blueknobgallery.com\/gallery\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_0084-230x300.jpeg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mythical Bird (Embroidery)by Catherine Dunham<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a variety of work on display, with the popular felted work of Melissa Hume and her beautifully crafted vests and shawls with a new design of a neck cowl that would enhance any piece of clothing. Brigitte Stievermann\u2019s exquisitely woven baskets add to the depth and dimension that these Fibre Shows produce from our local community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year the artists have brought us a variety of work among which are felted garments, re-purposed clothing, embroidery, tapestry, knitting, crochet, wood, basketry, standing lamp, handmade books and sculpture. Her work is also a testament to the imagination and craft of a well known and loved local artist. As overheard by an admirer of her work, \u201cnothing is safe from Pauline\u201d!\u00a0 Her ability to transform found objects and materials into works that can make powerful statements and amuse us at the same time is a wonderful attribute for any artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Looking Back &#8211; Moving Forward&#8217; is<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>a solo&nbsp; exhibition that has proved that art, political statements and humour always has a place in our lives, and can inform and move us. Her use of found objects and materials are turned into works that make powerful statements and it is a wonderful attribute for any artist. Pauline is a mixed media artist using, where possible found and gifted objects, exploring many mediums to create quirky and unique pieces. Her stitching and machine embroidery over original photographs printed on silk are a direct contrast in their sensitive and delicate approach to materials.
