'Pandora's Box'
October 4th - November 24th 2013
Thursday to Sunday 10am - 4pm
The members and artists of Blue Knob Hall Gallery have unleashed some creative, personal and imaginative pieces of artwork for the next exhibition titled ‘Pandora’s Box’.
The story from Greek Mythology goes something like this..........
Pandora was an inquisitive young woman who was given a beautiful container – with instructions not to open it under any circumstance. She tried to resist but impelled by her curiosity she lifted the lid and all evil imprisoned within was released and spread over the earth. She tried to close the container, but the whole contents had escaped, except for one thing that lay at the bottom – the Spirit of Hope.
Today, the phrase "to open Pandora's box" means to perform an action that may seem small or innocuous, but that turns out to have severe and far-reaching consequences. (Wikipedia)
The exhibition runs until November 24th.
The exhibition will be opening on Fri 4th October at 6:30pm. A set meal is available at $15 mains and $4 desserts. Bookings are essential so please phone the Gallery on 66897449.
Art, coffee and scenery all available at beautiful Blue Knob Hall Gallery & Café.
Blue Knob Hall Gallery’s space often allows it to show quite large works, especially ceramics, but it’s worth remembering when you’re there to check in the corners and so on, for the smaller pieces, the lithographs and drawings, which are often well-executed and maintain a simplicity that is worth appreciating.
