Coming up to an Easter break that is celebrated in different ways either from a religious background, folk loric /cultural influences, we are reminded that there are so many ways this word can be interpreted. Taken from the Greek (eikon – image, eikenai – to be like) we even see the word ‘icon’ being used these days in the most mundane of ways to mean a pictorial representation of a facility available on a computer system!
The artists exhibiting in this show have freely interpreted this theme from the religious/spiritual aspects through to the simple beauty of a personal ‘icon’, or what is seen as iconic in the world.
The Opening night for this exhibition will be held on Fri April 10th from 6:30 pm, with a set vegetarian meal and a choice of dessert provided by Joline of Cafe Blue Knob for $20 per person. Those who would like to stay for dinner, please contact the Gallery on 6689 7449 as bookings are essential.
The exhibition will run until Sunday May 17th.
