“We Were Young Once”
“We Were Young Once” highlights the first inspirations towards being an artist, with recent artworks and photos of the artists when they were young. Many of us came to art practice at different times in our lives. For some it was a part our childhood and continued throughout our lives. For others it has been something that was dreamt of; an unfulfilled dream or desire that came about later in life.

We were young once… we thought it would be fun to see images of the artists and people we have come to know personally or through their artwork over the years, and have a glimpse of how, where and when their ‘creative journey’ might have started. We sometimes forget we were all young once, and had dreams no matter how old we are now. Something else unfolded as the artworks, images and statements came in; it became a heartwarming experience. We laughed and witnessed what it is to remember….who we were and who we are now.
This exhibition has been a surprise, and a delight and we express our deepest thanks to the artists and artisans who have given something more of themselves for this exhibition. The Opening on Sun 9th was another delight with the trio ‘When the Moneys Gone” (Peter Walker, Trevor and Denise White), performing songs that took us back to other times when we were all younger.
”Relics V – Mapping Time and Place” by Renita Glencross
“Relics V – Mapping Time and Place” by Renita Glencross presents a collection of multi-media fibre-works created from journeys through desert, sea & forest over the last decade. Her work is inspired from meditations in different environments & responds to themes of transience and impermanence.
Renita studied textiles in WA and for 40 years has travelled far & wide seeking the advice of master weavers & traditional dyers, researching the botany & alchemy for preparing fibres & extracting natural colour to create unique stitched and woven wearable art & ceremonial objects.
The Relics are a collection of layered mixed media images, ceramic and woven glyphs, sigils, and natural gathered ephemera incorporated into fibre-works by weaving, felting and stitching.

This exhibition runs until 29th March 2025.
